JPG to PNG Converter
Make PNG copies of JPGs for editors, forms and sites that insist on PNG. The PNG is lossless, so the JPG's pixels are kept exactly, and the camera details and date move across. One thing this page is honest about: converting to PNG does not make a background transparent, because a JPG has no transparency to keep. Nothing is uploaded.

Camera details, the date taken and location data are kept when the new format can hold them (JPG, PNG, WebP), exactly as the original had them. Want to see or remove it? Remove EXIF and metadata shows everything a photo carries and strips it losslessly.

About jpg to png converter
What this page does differently
- Lossless PNG output with the JPG's EXIF (date taken, camera, location) carried into the PNG's eXIf block.
- The report states that a JPG has no transparency, so 'jpg to png transparent' expectations are answered before converting rather than after.
- Camera orientation tags are applied, so sideways phone photos come out upright in the PNG.
Will the background become transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency information, so the PNG is the same picture with the same opaque background. Making a background transparent means removing it, which is a different tool.
Why is the PNG larger than the JPG?
PNG is lossless; it stores every pixel. A photo that is 2 MB as JPG is typically 10 to 25 MB as PNG. Graphics with flat colours compress much better.
Does it improve quality?
No. The PNG holds exactly what the JPG decoded to; artefacts already in the JPG stay. It stops further loss from repeated saves.
Limits and privacy
No caps of ours: no file-size limit, no daily count, no account, no watermark, no queue. The only limit is what your device can draw; the line under "Before converting" states it. Files never leave your device: this page makes no network request with your images and keeps working offline once loaded. It reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG in every browser; HEIC in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Outputs are JPG, PNG, WebP and multi-size ICO. Free for personal and commercial use; convert only images you own or may modify.
