HEIC to PNG Converter
A lossless PNG copy of an iPhone HEIC photo, for editing, printing or archiving without a second round of compression. PNG files are large (often ten times the HEIC), so this page is for when exactness matters; for sharing and uploads, JPG is smaller. Works in Safari on Apple devices; nothing is uploaded.

Camera details, the date taken and location data are kept when the new format can hold them (JPG, PNG, WebP), exactly as the original had them. Want to see or remove it? Remove EXIF and metadata shows everything a photo carries and strips it losslessly.

About heic to png converter
What this page does differently
- PNG output is lossless: the decoded HEIC pixels are stored exactly, with no further compression loss.
- The report shows the size trade-off (PNG copies of 12 MP photos are typically 15 to 30 MB) before you press Convert.
- Date taken, camera model and location are carried into the PNG's EXIF block.
Why is the PNG so big?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly; a 12 MP photo is 36 MB of raw pixels, compressed without loss to perhaps 20 MB. HEIC and JPG discard detail the eye rarely misses, which is why they are 2 to 4 MB.
When should I pick PNG over JPG?
For editing where you will save many times, for screenshots and graphics with hard edges, and for archival copies. For sending, posting and uploading, JPG.
Why does it need Safari?
Safari has Apple's HEIC decoder built in. Other browsers cannot open HEIC yet, and this site does not ship its own decoder until its licensing is checked.
Limits and privacy
No caps of ours: no file-size limit, no daily count, no account, no watermark, no queue. The only limit is what your device can draw; the line under "Before converting" states it. Files never leave your device: this page makes no network request with your images and keeps working offline once loaded. It reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG in every browser; HEIC in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Outputs are JPG, PNG, WebP and multi-size ICO. Free for personal and commercial use; convert only images you own or may modify.
