JFIF to JPG Converter

A .jfif file is a JPEG with an unusual extension, so the honest conversion is a rename. This page copies each file byte for byte, gives it a .jpg name, and shows the checksum so you can see nothing was re-encoded. Drop as many as you like. If you also want to resize or shrink them, add an action and the files are re-encoded properly instead.

1. Add images

or drop files or folders here, or paste JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP, SVG, ICO · as many as you like

    2. Output

Optional actions (run in this order: crop, rotate, resize, canvas)
    File names

    Tokens: {name} original name · {n} number ({n:3} zero-padded) · {w} {h} pixels · {date} photo date · the extension is added for you. Example:

Camera details, the date taken and location data are kept when the new format can hold them (JPG, PNG, WebP), exactly as the original had them. Want to see or remove it? Remove EXIF and metadata shows everything a photo carries and strips it losslessly.

    3. Before converting

Add images to see what will happen to each one.

      About jfif to jpg converter

      What this page does differently

Why do I get .jfif files?

Windows sometimes saves JPEGs from the web with the .jfif extension (the name of the JPEG File Interchange Format). Many upload forms reject the extension even though the file is a normal JPEG.

      Is renaming really enough?

Yes. JFIF and JPG are the same container and the same compressed data. Renaming loses nothing; re-encoding would. This page does the rename and proves it with a checksum.

Can I make them smaller at the same time?

Yes. Add a Resize action or tick Keep each file under and set a KB limit; those files are then re-encoded with MozJPEG at the best quality that fits.

How do I stop Windows saving .jfif?

In the Registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/jpeg, change Extension from .jfif to .jpg. Or keep converting here; it takes a second.

      Limits and privacy

No caps of ours: no file-size limit, no daily count, no account, no watermark, no queue. The only limit is what your device can draw; the line under "Before converting" states it. Files never leave your device: this page makes no network request with your images and keeps working offline once loaded. It reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG in every browser; HEIC in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Outputs are JPG, PNG, WebP and multi-size ICO. Free for personal and commercial use; convert only images you own or may modify.
