About avif to png converter
What this page does differently
- Transparency is kept: an AVIF with an alpha channel becomes a transparent PNG.
- Animated AVIF sequences are detected from the header (avis brand) and the first frame is used, with a note.
- 10-bit and HDR AVIF are flagged; the PNG is the standard-range 8-bit image the browser decodes.
Why PNG rather than JPG?
PNG keeps transparency and is lossless. If the AVIF is a photo with no transparency, JPG is far smaller.
Will the PNG be big?
Yes: an AVIF of a few hundred KB can become a PNG of several MB, because PNG stores every pixel.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari on iOS 16 and later, which decodes AVIF natively.
Limits and privacy
No caps of ours: no file-size limit, no daily count, no account, no watermark, no queue. The only limit is what your device can draw; the line under "Before converting" states it. Files never leave your device: this page makes no network request with your images and keeps working offline once loaded. It reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG in every browser; HEIC in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Outputs are JPG, PNG, WebP and multi-size ICO. Free for personal and commercial use; convert only images you own or may modify.
