AVIF to JPG Converter
AVIF is the newest web image format and still opens in few apps. This page turns AVIF files into JPGs that open everywhere. Your browser's own AVIF decoder does the work, so nothing is uploaded and there is no file limit of ours. Transparent, HDR and animated AVIF files are named in the report before you convert.

Camera details, the date taken and location data are kept when the new format can hold them (JPG, PNG, WebP), exactly as the original had them. Want to see or remove it? Remove EXIF and metadata shows everything a photo carries and strips it losslessly.

About avif to jpg converter
What this page does differently
- Uses the browser's native AVIF decoder (all current browsers), so conversion is local and instant.
- Animated AVIF (avis) is detected from the file header; the JPG keeps the first frame and the report says so.
- Transparent AVIF gets the background picker, because JPG cannot keep transparency.
Why can't my app open AVIF?
AVIF arrived in 2019 and support is still spreading. Browsers open it; many desktop apps, older phones and upload forms do not. A JPG copy solves that.
Is the JPG smaller or bigger?
Bigger. AVIF compresses about 30 to 50 percent better than JPG at the same look, so the JPG copy is usually two to three times the size.
What about HDR AVIF?
Browsers decode HDR to standard range for display, and that is what the JPG gets: a normal SDR image. Highlights may look flatter than on an HDR screen.
Can I convert the other way?
JPG to AVIF output is planned once demand is measured; today the converter writes JPG, PNG, WebP and ICO.
Limits and privacy
No caps of ours: no file-size limit, no daily count, no account, no watermark, no queue. The only limit is what your device can draw; the line under "Before converting" states it. Files never leave your device: this page makes no network request with your images and keeps working offline once loaded. It reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG in every browser; HEIC in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Outputs are JPG, PNG, WebP and multi-size ICO. Free for personal and commercial use; convert only images you own or may modify.
