Remove EXIF and Metadata from Photos

Drop a photo or a folder. It shows everything hidden inside: where it was taken, when, on which camera, its serial numbers, the software history, a second thumbnail image, AI prompts, video tacked on after the picture. Choose what stays. The picture itself is never re-encoded, it keeps its orientation and colours, and the result is read back to prove what is left. Nothing is uploaded.

      About this tool

What it reads. EXIF (camera, dates, GPS, serial numbers, maker notes, the hidden IFD1 thumbnail), XMP (editor data, history, location, rights, depth maps, motion-photo flags), IPTC (press captions, credits, cities), ICC profiles, Content Credentials markers, PNG text including Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, NovelAI and InvokeAI prompt data, GIF comments, SVG editor data, and anything appended after the image (motion-photo video, gain maps, Samsung trailers). Formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF; TIFF and camera RAW can be inspected but not cleaned yet.

How it removes. By cutting the metadata blocks out of the file, never by re-encoding the picture. The compressed image data in the output is byte for byte the input's, and the tool proves it with a checksum. Orientation is always carried over, so photos do not come out sideways. The colour profile is kept unless you remove it. HEIC and AVIF are neutralised in place: the file keeps its size and layout, the blocks are blanked.

Proof. After cleaning, the output is read back with the same scanner and shown next to the original: what was found, what was removed, what was kept, whether the image data changed. A clean that cannot be verified is reported as such.

Privacy. Files never leave your device. The page makes no network request with your images, loads no third-party script, and keeps working offline once loaded. Coordinates are only sent to a map service if you click one of the "Open in" links yourself.

Rights. The default keeps creator and copyright fields. Removing them from images you do not own may be unlawful; the "Remove everything" rule says so before you use it. Content Credentials are kept unless you choose otherwise, but any change to a file invalidates them, and this page never claims to preserve them.
