Pad the short side with white, any colour, or transparent space so the whole picture fits a square, or switch to Crop and choose 1:1 to cut a square instead. Full resolution, nothing leaves your device.

What this page does
- Pads to the long side, so nothing is cut off; the picture stays centred.
- Any padding colour, or transparent (saved as PNG or WebP).
- Prefer cropping? Open Crop and choose Square 1:1 to drag a square box instead.
- Add a border or rounded corners in the same step.
Square without cropping or with?
Padding keeps everything and adds space; cropping keeps only a square part. This page starts with padding; the Crop tab does the other.
What size does Instagram want?
Instagram accepts any square; it downsizes to 1080 px wide. Export as JPG and, if needed, under a size limit.
