Mouse Tester
Test your mouse buttons online: press Start, then click every button inside the test area, including the side buttons, and roll the wheel. The page counts each click, watches for clicks that register twice and holds that let go by themselves, checks whether the wheel ever jumps the wrong way, and gives you a plain summary to copy or save. Nothing leaves this page.
1. Test
Click, hold and scroll inside this box.
| button | clicks | shortest gap | double-clicks |

Click each button a few times inside the box: left, right, the wheel (middle), and the two side buttons if your mouse has them. The right-click menu and back/forward navigation are blocked while the test runs.

Is it the mouse or the computer?
Save the JSON here, run the test again with the mouse on another computer or USB port, then load the first file. If the same problem shows up on both, it follows the mouse.

About the Mouse Tester
How to use it
- Press Start test. The right-click menu and back/forward navigation are blocked inside the test area while it runs.
- Click each button a few times inside the box: left, right, the wheel, and both side buttons if your mouse has them.
- If a button misbehaves, open the Double-click & hold tab and run the 30-click check and the 5-second hold check on it.
- Open the Scroll wheel tab and scroll down only, then up only.
- Stop the test and copy or save the summary.
What it checks
- Every button: left, right, middle (wheel click), and the back/forward side buttons, which are stopped from navigating away while the test runs.
- Unintended double-clicks: a second click arriving faster than a finger can click, the usual sign of a worn switch. The threshold is adjustable, and the guided check clicks one button 30 times.
- Drags that let go: the hold check spots a held button briefly releasing by itself.
- Scroll wheel: scroll one direction at a time and see whether any step jumps the other way.
- Event rate: how many movement updates your browser receives, shown honestly as a lower bound.
Reading your result
- Works: The button was received and no click arrived faster than the double-click threshold.
- Possible fault: At least one second click came faster than a finger can click, a held button let go by itself, or the wheel jumped the wrong way. The summary shows the gap in milliseconds as evidence.
- Side buttons: If your browser blocked a back or forward navigation but did not report the button, the page still tells you the side button was pressed. Firefox often hides side buttons from pages.
- Keys instead of clicks: Some mouse software maps extra buttons to keyboard keys. The page lists those keys so you can see the button works.
Is my mouse broken?
Run the test and look for Possible fault or Not received. A single odd result can be your finger, so repeat the guided check before deciding.
How do I test mouse side buttons?
Click them inside the test area after pressing Start. The page blocks the back and forward navigation they normally trigger and marks each one as received.
Does this work on a laptop touchpad?
Touchpad taps and two-finger scrolling are reported as clicks and wheel steps, so it works for a basic check. The double-click and wheel verdicts are meant for mice.
What a browser cannot test
Extra buttons beyond back/forward are usually handled by the mouse's own software (this page shows it when they are mapped to keys). Firefox often does not report side buttons to pages. No web page can measure click latency, sensor DPI or the true polling rate; the event rate shown is a lower bound.
Privacy
The test runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you press is uploaded, and nothing is saved after you close or refresh the page. Saved files are created on your device and only go where you send them.
