Controller Tester
A controller and gamepad tester that runs in your browser on PC or Mac. Connect a controller (USB or Bluetooth) and press any button. Every button, trigger and analog stick shows live. Run the rest test to measure stick drift and get a suggested deadzone, watch for drift that comes and goes, check the stick range and the vibration motors, then copy or save a plain summary. Works with Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and most generic gamepads and joysticks. Nothing leaves this page.
1. Test
Press any button on your controller.
Browsers keep controllers hidden until a button is pressed, for privacy. If nothing happens: try a data cable (not charge-only), close apps that grab the controller (Steam Big Picture, emulators), and click this page first.

Press every button, pull both triggers all the way, and click both sticks. For a stricter check, the guided check asks for each button by name and flags any that come out swapped.
Rest test: a 3-second countdown, then 10 seconds with the controller put down and the sticks untouched.
Keep this tab visible while measuring: browsers stop reading controllers in hidden tabs.
Idle watch (drift that comes and goes)
Checks how far each stick reaches in every direction.
A web page can only send the vibration; you confirm whether it worked. Supported in Chrome, Edge and Safari on Mac; not in Firefox or on iPhone/iPad. Trigger rumble only works in Chrome/Edge on Windows with Xbox controllers.

2. Result
Is it the controller or the computer?
Save the JSON here, test again on another computer, browser or with a cable instead of Bluetooth, then load the first file. If the same problem shows up on both, it follows the controller.

About the Controller Tester
How to use it
- Connect the controller by cable or Bluetooth, click this page, and press any button on the controller so the browser shows it.
- Press every button, pull both triggers all the way, and click both sticks. Use the guided check if you suspect a swapped button.
- Open Stick drift, put the controller down and run the 10-second rest test. For drift that comes and goes, run the idle watch for a few minutes.
- Open Stick range and rotate each stick slowly around its edge, then try the motors on the Vibration tab.
- Copy or save the summary. Test again over a cable or on another computer if you want to rule out the PC.
What it checks
- Buttons: every button lights as you press it, named for your controller style; the guided check flags buttons that come out swapped.
- Triggers: how far each trigger travels, so a trigger that never returns to zero or never reaches full travel stands out.
- Stick drift: a 10-second rest test measures how far each stick sits off centre and how much it wanders, compared with the deadzones games use, and suggests a deadzone.
- Idle watch: logs every time an untouched stick moves, for drift that comes and goes.
- Stick range: how far each stick reaches in every direction.
- Vibration: sends rumble to each motor; you confirm whether you felt it.
Reading your result
- Rests off centre: How far the stick sits from the middle when untouched. Small offsets are normal and hidden by game deadzones.
- Jitter: How much the reading wanders while untouched. Wandering beyond the deadzone is what you see as drift in games.
- Suggested deadzone: The smallest deadzone that would hide what the rest test measured, for games that let you set one.
- Trigger travel: The lowest and highest value each trigger reached. A trigger should reach close to 1 when pressed fully and return to 0 when released.
How do I test a controller on PC?
Connect it, open this page and press any button. Browsers keep controllers hidden until a button is pressed, then every input shows up live.
Does it work as a joystick test?
Yes. Joysticks and arcade sticks that Windows or macOS recognise as game controllers appear here with raw buttons and axes, even when their layout is not known.
My controller doesn't show up. What now?
Use a data cable rather than a charge-only one, close apps that take over controllers such as Steam Big Picture, click the page, then press a button again. Chrome and Edge support the most controllers.
What a browser cannot test
Browsers only see a controller after a button press, and only what the system reports. Some software (Steam Input, DS4Windows) applies its own deadzone first, which can hide small drift. Gyro, touchpad position, light bar, adaptive triggers and battery are not available through the standard controller interface. The Home / Guide / PS button is often taken by the system. No web page can measure controller latency or polling rate.
Privacy
The test runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you press is uploaded, and nothing is saved after you close or refresh the page. Saved files are created on your device and only go where you send them.
