Spacebar Clicker
Press the spacebar as fast as you can; the timer starts on your first press. You get your total, presses per second, your best single second, and two honest flags: a key that registers twice (chatter) and machine-regular intervals (an auto-presser). On a phone, tap the area instead. Nothing is uploaded.
About this spacebar counter
How to use it
- Pick a duration: 1 second for a burst, 5 or 10 for the usual challenge, 60 for stamina.
- Press Space. The timer starts on that first press, so there is no countdown to anticipate.
- Keep pressing until the timer stops. Holding the key down does not count; the page ignores auto-repeat.
- Read the flags under the score before you believe it.
What the numbers mean
- Presses is how many separate key-downs arrived during the run; per second is that divided by the duration.
- Best second is the most presses inside any one-second window of the run.
- Chatter: a worn or dirty switch can report one press as two, a few milliseconds apart. That inflates the count, and it is the same fault that types double letters. This page flags presses with that signature; the keyboard chatter test shows them one by one.
- Machine-regular intervals: fingers vary their timing by well over 10%; software barely varies. When intervals vary by under 3% across 20 or more presses the page says so. It cannot prove a macro was used, so it only reports the pattern.
Is my spacebar double-registering?
If the chatter flag appears here, or you see double spaces when you type, the switch under the spacebar is probably bouncing. On mechanical keyboards the usual fixes are cleaning or replacing that one switch, or a debounce setting in the keyboard's firmware. Run the chatter test to see the gaps and get a report you can attach to a warranty claim.
What a good score is
We don't publish a ranking: a percentile needs a reference population measured the same way, and no spacebar site has one. Most people manage 6–9 presses a second with one thumb; two thumbs on a phone score higher. Your own history on this device, kept locally, is the comparison that means something.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you press is uploaded and there is no account. Your best scores are kept only on this device, per duration, and you can clear them. Saved files are created on your device and only go where you send them.
